The Wyndencleh Gallery is divided into three pages so that each page can load in a reasonable time. Remember that the images are shown here in relatively low resolution; the actual cards and prints are clear and show much finer true-to-life detail. Every design is available as a Note Card; many are also available as Prints. Rest your mouse on each design to learn more about it, and then return to the Gallery home page.

Many birds have remarkable plumage, but few are as special as the Cedar WaxWing. Tiny tips of the wing feathers are a true, brilliant crimson, while a sharply defined yellow tip ornaments a tail feather. More of nature’s ‘tips’ are found in the yellow and crimson Gaillardia petals, clustered near a single pink Lupin blossom, bits of Sage and Sweet Marjoram, and a blue-tipped Lobelia, while intricately patterned Sweet William cascades from Tips of WaxWings.
Garden of Plumes is a celebration of Nature’s ‘Plumes’ - those showy, spikey flowers that add dimension to so many beautiful gardens. The red, tree-like form of an Astilbe blossom keeps watch over soft Sage, a bit of purple from Hyssop and Nana’s Bee Balm, and some Yellow and Red Celosia. The base is formed of Sage, Dill, Sweet Marjoram, and the tiny feather from a Downy Woodpecker.

Sweet Marjoram grows enthusiastically in my herb garden, and also tumbles enthusiastically out of this arrangement! A spiraling plume of Nana’s Bee Balm towers over the grey-blue of a BlueJay feather, while blue and pink plumes of Hyssop, yellow Celosia, red Astilbe, and purple Creeping Thyme all circle around a central purple Xeranthemum.
Winter Crimson Leaves … A pointed Black Cherry, a pair of Purple-Leaf WinterCreepers, and a tiny leaf trio of the Wild Rose In their winter crimson colours. A speckled feather of Guinea Fowl Rises dramatically beyond Canadian Holly berries. Broom Corn Its multi-coloured seed heads Anchored by Rose Hips A green sprig of Wild Juniper And the exotic shape of Rue.
Sage Hearts are involved in their surroundings... this pair of fully mature Hearts is crowned by a richly textured trio of Sage Leaves. Along with the sagacity of the Sage, a young, pink Grape Leaf brings the light-hearted joy of a young wine, Forget-Me-Nots contribute steadfastness, and a single blossom of Bee Balm is a soothing balm for the pair of Hearts.

Winter Crimson

A trio of Bear Claws forms the center of this collection of international woodland elements … Birch Bark, Mayflowers, Pussywillows, Ground Pine, Moss and Old Man’s Beard were gathered at Wyndencleh Farm in Nova Scotia, and are joined by a tuft of New Hampshire Moose Hair and the feather of a Ring-Necked Pheasant from PEI.
The central flower in Homestead Garden is a brilliant Helichrysum, sitting on a bed of fine strands of the moss that grows on the Red Maple trees. The blue star-shape of a Borage flower sits next to the Bluejay feather, above a cluster of Buckwheat flowers. A Clover blossom and a sprig of Creeping Thyme complete the arrangement.

After a long winter, the Pussy Willows, Mayflowers, and Nova Scotia tartan waving in the breeze show the joy that comes with a Nova Scotia Spring. The blue and grey of a BlueJay feather, tassels of Ground Pine, and a bud of spring-time Maple bring spring to the heart of Nova Scotia.

Equal, but not identical, are the pairs in Together. A pair of bleeding hearts is held together by forget-me-nots and Bridal Veil blossoms. A pair of columbine - pink and blue - is surrounded by pairs of buttercups, creeping phlox, Cynthia's thistle, & leaves of Dutchman's britches. And feathers -- BlueJay and female Purple Finch -- descend from different directions, but center on the same point.

Bear Claws

A blossom of Bee Balm and the natural curve of a winged Maple seed form a Gentle Embrace around a Carpet Rose. Three tiny pink petals of Rhodanthe float skyward above the feather from one of Wyndencleh’s many Mourning Doves. And a tiny blue and white Sapphire Lobelia, some red spring buds from a Maple tree, and a young, pink Grape Leaf cluster near the center.

Gentle Embrace

Although I’ve never tried growing African Violets, they are a common sight in the windowsills of many Nova Scotian homes. I’ve added a couple of sprigs of Bee Balm and a bit of Cynthia’s blue Thistle to this collection of my mother’s African Violet blossoms.

The Windowsill

The metallic silver of Beach Wormwood glistens above a sharply-pointed brilliant red Sumac leaf. Twin leaves of Oregano, burgundy in winter, and twin feathers from a Ring-Necked Pheasant, surround a central Rose Hip. A trio of intricately curled Hollyhock seeds cradle the arrangement, which trails petite, puffy, purple Ageratum blossoms.
